Jesus Speaks

About 2 years ago I wrote Devil Speaks. I continue the saga with Jesus Speaks. Man has sold his soul to the devil and Jesus watches. He rages in a fit of gloom and anger and says,

The weight of thy sins bodes down heavy on me
Yet you don’t shy away from claiming your sins,
for you, are nothing but mere mortal
and so you let me die for thee
You do pity me, without shame as such
And without shame you believe, that I love thee

You believe me to live and die for you
for you believe that the reason of my birth
But you don’t ponder, the other cause
for I was born to reclaim, not resurrect thee
And for once, I leave, hoping my teachings imparted
For once I trust, your tears were true to your being

Yet on return I see, you delving in plight again
I see you remembering me, in times of pain
only to abuse and ask me, why have I left thee unclaimed
You never stop to wonder, the life you live is your own creation
for when I came, I reclaimed and I left you in glee
then, answer me mortal, why dost thou blame me?

It was you who accepted the world as your place to be
whilst I showed you how to stand up for your own
When did I ever ask you to mold yourself in the herd?
When did I ever say it okay to have your voice unheard?
Yet you choose to be the herd and blame me with kin
and wait for me to resurrect to die again for another sin

I said I love you, and you must value me since
but whatever have you loved, you have turned to ashes
You took my love for granted, and all else which did
in your shame to lie to me, you lied from yourself
And now you plea, having won the world but none to share with
you wonder why you’re unloved, why you were so mean

You gladly delivered thy soul to the devil
for you thought that brought you peace
You dared to not be brave enough
to confront your own reality
Now you wonder when did you go wrong
it was in the moment, you chose to be mean

In your hunt for security, comfort, life
you somewhere gave up on salvation
At Judgment Day you know, it was all in vain
for all your life and all your pain, you gained nothing
For you thought less of yourself
and from your destiny refrained

In the mindless pursuit of happiness
you found peace in ignorance
‘For how long,’ you refused to care
‘just this and no more,’ you lied to all dear
yet you, and I were who knew the truth
and today having lost all, you forgone my pity too

I blesseth your soul, which remains with you no more
I loved thee with all your miseries
I loved your hope, ambition and will
having lost that, there’s no more of you in you
You claim I left you in troubled times
while it was you who let go of me

Refusing to acknowledge reality,
you abhor and flay when it comes your way
Refusing, even to confess to yourself
for the thoughts were too heavy for your load
Refused you, to ask me for a stronger back
you sold your load to Him

And slowly, He took some moments from your life at first
and then, life from those moments
At times you scrounged to regain them
knowing, they could never again be yours
You tried to squeeze some life out of passing time
Time, which belonged neither to you nor to me now

And now, you apologize, where that statement has no meaning
for with you I lost trust, in your ability to trust yourself
You simply say “sorry,” without understanding,
that it’s not a mere statement
It’s a promise, of never repeating your deeds
It’s a responsibility, to make up for your sins

But you refuse any penance of any sorts
you expect love, without its 3 pillars
accountability, responsibility, credibility
You refuse either, and abuse me for failing myself
you plea to me, for putting you through pain
Refusing, to acknowledge my help in it

And so, done dying for your sins
I bid thee goodbye
For you have sent me further than I anticipated
Riding on my own tears, I move away from thee
Hoping, you reclaim yourself this time
Hoping, I never have to reclaim anyone again
